Dung (Judy) Nguyen

Howdy! I am a second-year Ph.D. student in Computer Science at Vanderbilt University, TN, advised by Prof. Taylor T. Johnson and Prof. Kevin Leach. Previously, I received my Bachelor’s degree from School of Information and Communication Technology at Hanoi University of Science and Technology in October 2022.
Growing up, I was fascinated by sci-fi depictions of uncontrollable AI and rogue robots, which led me to ask: How can we ensure AI remains safe and aligned with human values? My research explores adversarial, privacy, and ethical vulnerabilities in both centralized and decentralized ML/AI systems, with a focus on developing practical solutions to mitigate these risks. I strongly believe that AI should serve humanity by making people feel both happy and safe.
Beyond research, I am passionate about photography, books, and music, and I never say no to new adventures!
How to pronounce my Viet name (Dung): /zʊŋ/
