I’m Judy | CS Ph.D. student @ Vanderbilt | SoICT alum | VinUni research alum | Vietnamese blood in me. Advised by Prof. Taylor T. Johnson & Prof. Kevin Leach.
About myself. As a child, I was drawn to science-fiction films about sentient machines. What fascinated me also unsettled me: the idea that humanity might create intelligence it could not fully understand or control. Over time, that quiet unease evolved into a habit of questioning not just what AI systems can do, but how they behave under uncertainty and failure. What once felt like overthinking now intertwines with my research perspective: Ensuring control, reliability, and alignment with human values is just as essential as improving performance.
About myself (more technically). My research explores security, privacy, and ethical vulnerabilities in AI systems, and is now expanding toward the safety and alignment of large language models and agents.
Beyond research. I’m passionate about photography, books, and music, and I almost never say no to a new adventure. You can call me Judy; my Vietnamese name is Dung, pronounced /zʊŋ/.
